CAT 2018 – Common Admission Test is the computer based one of the most competitive exam in India for admission in to Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) in India.

CAT 2018 is the nation level exam which is conducted by IIMs. Every year one of IIM convenes this exam.

CAT Exam is the gateway of 20 IIMs and other top b school in India. Every year large number MBA Aspirants appears in this exam .CAT exam is one of the most popular entrance exams in India.

CAT 2018 Exam date and Notification

As per CAT IIM official website iimcat.ac.in CAT 2018 will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in Morning and Afternoon sessions in 147 cities in India.. Detailed notification for CAT 2018 has been released on 29th July. IIM have increased registration fee this year to 1900. No Major changes have been announced in exam pattern.

CAT 2018 eligibility


CAT 2018 eligibility criteria have been also announced by IIM Calcutta. The Eligibility criteria for CAT 2018 has not been much changed by IIM Calcutta.

  • No Age Limit
  • According to eligibility criteria published on CAT exam official website. The CAT 2018 Aspirant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PwD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

  • Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

CAT 2018 Registration Fee


According to prof Sumanta Basu convener CAT 2018, Candidate can pay the CAT 2018 exam fee during online registration. Use a valid credit card, debit card, or net-banking facility.

₹ 950 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates.

₹1900 for all other categories of candidates. Please note that a candidate needs to pay registration fee only once, irrespective of the number of institute she/she is applying for. SC, ST and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PwD certificates at the time of registration.

Fee once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

CAT 2018 Registration Process

CAT 2018 aspirants can register for exam on official website iimcat.ac.in between Aug 08, 2018 to Sep 19, 2018. Candidate who want to appear in CAT 2018 exam must fulfil eligibility criteria mentined by IIM CAT. Candidate should read instruction carefully to avoid chance of mistake, also keep required documents handy at the time of filling the CAT application form 2018.

Step 1 - In Registration Process , To Recieve User ID and Password click the registration button under New Candidate Registration

Step 2 - Click on register yourself and fill your detail

As CAT Exam Center advised and mentioned on registration page Kindly use Internet Explorer (version 11 and above) or Mozilla Firefox (version 50 to 61) or Google Chrome (version 50 to 69) to get perfect view

  • Candidate should read the instructions carefully, before filling the form:
  • 1) Candidate has to fill in the below mentioned details to receive the User ID and Password.
  • 2) Candidate will receive the User ID on the registered email address and Password as SMS on the registered mobile number.
  • 3) Candidate can login with the User ID and Password to complete the application form for CAT 2018.
  • 4) Candidate must provide Correct Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Email Address as these details cannot be changed once the registration is complete.

Step 3 - After successfully fill your detail upload required document, keep ready your required document

  • Mark Sheet or Score card of class 10th.
  • Mark or Score Card of class 12th
  • Mark Sheet or applicable certificate of Bachelor’s Degree and or higher education
  • Scanned images of passport size photograph and signatures. The photo should not be more than six months old and should have a white background.

Step 4 - Submit your application

Step 5 - Pay registration fee online

  • Candidate who want to appear have to pay ₹ 950 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates.₹ 1900 for all other categories ofcandidates.CAT 2018 Registration fee has been increased by IIMs. The CAT 2018 exam fee last year was 1800.

CAT 2018 – Exam Pattern

CAT is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT). CAT Exam not an Internet-Based Test (IBT); that is, a candidate will not take the exam on an internet site.

In Computer based test candidate not reading the question in a paper booklet & darkening the ovals on the OMR answer-sheet; a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.

CAT 2018 will have three sections:

  • The total duration test is of 3 hours and where every section is for one hour.
  • A candidate cannot move to the next section till he completes the time allocated in the previous section. Also, one cannot move back to the previous sections after the allotted time for that section is over (switching of sections not allowed).
  • There are two types of questions in the test: MCQs and non-MCQs, where the candidate has to write the answer in the space provided.
  • For questions other than MCQs, 3 marks are assigned for ‘correct answer’ and no marks for ‘incorrect answer or no attempt'.


The scoring scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) is as follows:

Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.

An incorrect answer fetches -1.

No marks are given or deducted for un-attempted questions.
